Flashcards - how to make and use them effectively

These are pieces of paper cut into regular shapes like squares, rectangles or even circles that contain a question on one side and the answer on the other side. 

The question is the first thing that gets read out and you must try to say the correct answer before looking at the back where the answer is contained.  You earn or lose points for your accuracy. It's a Game you can play by yourself or with a group and every your family will enjoy learning and helping you learn this way.


HOW TO MAKE THEM (VIDEO)

1. Find a place to work.

2. Collect your materials together. 3. Highlight the most important information. 4. Write the key term or concept on one side of the flash card.

5. Write short, concise notes on the other side of the flash card. Draw diagrams if you need to.

6. Make sure your writing is large, clear, and well-spaced.


HOW TO USE THEM EFFECTIVELY (VIDEO)

1. Take your time to make flash cards. 2. Test yourself frequently.

3. Have someone test you.

4. Keep your note cards until you are absolutely sure that you don’t need them.
